From Paris, With Love: Meet the New Tank Française

In 1996, the Cartier Tank Française joined the legendary Tank collection that was created by Louis Cartier in 1917. As with all previous follow-ups, such as the Tank Américaine or the Tank Must de Cartier, it offered a subtle twist of the highly recognizable design that has appealed to dozens of celebrities over the course of the last century. Most importantly, the Tank Française featured a metal bracelet, a first for a tank.

27 years later, Cartier reinvents this iconic timepiece and endows it with a new bracelet design for ergonomic purposes. The sides that frame the hallmark square dial reach up to the bracelet and more rounded. In addition, the new line up boasts a faceted crown – a signature of the Tank from the very beginning – that is set further into the case side which highlights the contemporary appeal. Cartier offers three different sizes in stainless steel and in 18-karat gold. While the smaller versions are driven by quartz movements, the Tank Française Large Model (36.7mm x 30.5 mm x 10.1mm) is powered by the brand’s genuine mechanical movement, caliber 1853 MC.

To launch the new Tank Française, Cartier has created a beautiful video campaign with French actress Catherine Deneuve and American actor Rami Malek.

The Cartier Tank Française Large Model has a price tag of $5,500.
