Last week, WatchTime attended the “global dynamic launch” of the Lamborghini LP 700-4 Aventador Roadster in Miami as a guest of Blancpain, which partnered with Lamborghini in 2009 to establish the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo single-make race series. While there, we had the opportunity to speak with Lamborghini CEO Stephen Winkelmann, who answered questions about the new car and the future of the Blancpain partnership.

With its 6.5-liter V12 engine with 700 hp and top speed of 220 mph, the Aventador has been referred to as “the most extraordinary series production Lamborghini ever built.”
A day before journalists arrived in Miami to test-drive the new Roadster, Lamborghini got special authorization from the FAA to drive the cars down the south runway of Miami International airport, where they exceeded, for the first time ever, the passenger airliner takeoff speed of over 150 mph.
The 2012 Blancpain L-Evolution Super Trofeo watch has a flyback chronograph and incorporates materials found in Lamborghini cars, including carbon fiber in the case and dial and alcantara leather for the strap.
