Video: Piaget’s Gouverneur Collection

Piaget’s headline introduction at this year’s SIHH watch fair in Geneva was a new collection of dress watches called Gouverneur. The Gouverneur models’ distinguishing feature is the shape of their cases and bezels: all have a round case and an oval dial opening. Each dial, in turn, has a circular chapter ring, creating a round, oval, round pattern from the dial to the outside of the case.

While I love Piaget\'s style in many ways (especially their moonphase), calling these watches \"Gouverneur\" is so pretentious I wouldn\'t be able to consider them no matter how attractive & well designed I think they are.

Maybe I\'m totally creating a connection to a British pronunciation of \"governor,\" which in itself it often used to denote false plattitudes.
