Here’s the Tissot Watch the First Rounders Received at the 2016 NBA Draft

The National Basketball Association’s 2016 Draft was held at Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center on June 23, and WatchTime was one of a handful of media invited as guests of Swiss watch brand Tissot, which as of this year became the very first official timekeeper of the NBA.

To make its mark on its first NBA Draft as the NBA’s timekeeping partner, Tissot awarded a new, personalized watch — the Tissot PRC 200 NBA Edition (above) — to each of the outstanding college players chosen in the draft’s first round. Among the highlights of our Draft Night experience was witnessing Tissot’s professional watch engravers personalize each timepiece’s caseback with the name and draft-position number of each player.

The Tissot PRC 200 NBA Edition, a Swiss-quartz-powered chronograph watch with date display, has a 41-mm 316L stainless steel case with a screw-down crown and caseback and a scratch-resistant sapphire caseback over the dial. The dial has several elements evocative of NBA basketball, including the “net” motif in the center of the dial, a basketball image in the 6 o’clock subdial, and the NBA’s red-and-blue colors used for the chronograph hands. (Red and blue are also found on the two chronograph push-buttons.) A tachymeter scale surrounds the dial. The men’s version of the watch has a stainless steel bracelet with a safety folding clasp and divers’ extension, while the ladies’ model has a steel bracelet with a push-button folding clasp. (The players who received their watches at the Tissot lounge at Barclay’s Center had the bracelets fitted to their wrists.)

For all of us NBA fans who were not drafted into the league this year, and will not be receiving a personalized version, the Tissot PRC 200 NBA Edition (with the iconic NBA player-silhouette logo engraved on the back) will retail for a modest $525 and will be available for purchase online at us.tissotshop.com.
