With the countdown to WatchTime New York 2021 now standing at exactly one month, we are excited to return for the sixth time to Midtown Manhattan’s Gotham Hall on October 22-24, along with more than 25 participating watch brands set to display their newest timepieces. Among these is Norqain, which will showcase a variety of its sport-oriented timepieces, including esteemed options from the Adventure, Freedom, and Independence collections.
Headlining Norqain’s offerings this year is the new Adventure Neverest GMT, a new, travel-focused edition of the Adventure Neverest series of all-purpose, dive-stylish sport watches which the brand unveiled this summer. The new GMT version takes that original design and riffs on it, applying a GMT complication and some creative additions of color to offer something equally as robust and useful as it is visually intriguing.
The initial launch of the Adventure Neverest GMT includes three new watches, two in steel with either blue or green accents, and a third in DLC-coated steel with details in a high-contrast orange.
While differing in colorways, each of the models uses the same overall base design, featuring a robust 41 mm by 14.94 mm steel case with tapered lugs, stylized guards around a screw-down crown, and a knurled-edge, bidirectional bezel with a ceramic insert bearing a bidirectional 24-hour scale that speaks to the watch’s GMT functionality. The case is water-resistant to 100 meters, making it suitable for the adventurous pursuits for which it’s designed.
Beneath the anti-reflective-coated sapphire crystal, the dial has the familiar Norqain-signature crosshatch-textured look, here executed in a fine black color that usefully contrasts against various metal, white, and colored accents.
A curved two-tone 24-hour scale surrounds the dial along the outer edge, framing a ring of X1 Super-LumiNova-filled, applied hour markers, broken up only at the 3 o’clock position by an outlined date window. A pair of sword hands determines the local hours and minutes, while two arrow pointers – one with a colored edge, the other in plain white – track an additional time zone and count the running seconds, respectively.
Inside the new GMT watch is Norqain’s manufacture Caliber NN20/2, a widely praised mechanism produced in partnership with Tudor-Founded Kenissi and first unveiled last year in the Freedom 60 GMT. The chronometer-certified automatic movement stores an incredibly convenient 70-hour power reserve and is visible behind a sapphire caseback, with the brand’s core values of “Adventure – Freedom – Independence” engraved upon the bridges.
As was the case for the original, time-only Adventure Neverest, and in the charitable spirit of the brand to honor the region and people for which the series is inspired, 10% of the earnings from the sales of Adventure Neverest watches will benefit the Butterfly Help Project. The non-profit was founded by Norbu Sherpa and Andrea Sherpa-Zimmermann of Wild Yak Expeditions, with a focus on assisting the families of their fellow Sherpas who have lost their lives in the Himalayan mountains and give their children access to education.
The Norqain Adventure Neverest GMT is available now via authorized dealers and directly through the brand, each colorway on a non-limited basis. Pricing begins at $3,960 for the blue- and green-accented models on a flex fabric strap, $3,760 on a rubber NATO strap, and $3,900 on a steel bracelet; the DLC-and-orange model costs $4,100 on a fabric strap, $4,190 on a rubber NATO, and $4,500 on a steel bracelet.
