With this watch, A. Lange & Söhne debuts a new design concept. The most dramatic feature is the winged German silver time bridge that extends over the dial. But the Zeitwerk also has classic Lange & Söhne elements, such as the “auf” (up) and “ab” (down) indications on the power-reserve display and the distinctly shaped hands. Historically speaking, the Zeitwerk is influenced by the Dresden Semper Opera House clock, built by J.C. Freidrich Gutkaes. Among the movement’s features is its constant-force escapement that advances the minute disk. A. Lange & Söhne, the German luxury brand based in Glashütte, produces its own escapement spring and hairspring. Even more detail about the Zeitwerk and its movement is in our FREE Download. WatchTime tested and scored the watch on everything from its clasp to its case design, from its legibility and wearing comfort to the movement’s rate results. All the results are in this FREE download, which also compares the Lange Zeitwerk to other A. Lange & Söhne watches.
