Hamilton watches have been fixtures on the big screen for years, appearing in films ranging from 2001: A Space Odyssey to Men in Black to the previous entrant in the Die Hard series, 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, in which Willis, as McClane, also wore one.
In A Good Day to Die Hard, maverick New York City cop McClane travels to Moscow to come to the aid of his son, Jack, only to find the two of them in an international adventure that involves tangling with the Russian underworld and trying to prevent a war. McClane’s simple, classically styled Viewmatic fits his no-nonsense persona, while the more modern-looking Khaki X-Patrol — which includes an advanced conversion table that provides units in both metric and Imperial systems — is suited to the younger, world-traveling Jack, a CIA operative. Technical data on both watches are beneath the respective photos, and a link to the trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard appears below.
The Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic has a 44-mm stainless steel case, water-resistant to 100 meters, and has either a black or silver-colored dial. It comes on either a brown, stitched leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet, and is powered by an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement. The price is $795.
The Hamilton Khaki X-Patrol (which we covered in a detailed Watch to Watch article last July) has a 42-mm stainless steel case, water-resistant to 100 meters. It has a black or silver-colored dial and is available with either a black stitched leather or black rubber strap or a steel bracelet. The watch contains Hamilton’s H-21 chronograph movement and retails for $1,695.
