Watches and Wonders 2023: Patek Philippe Showcases Calatrava and Calatrava Travel Time

Patek Philippe, long known for its refined GMT and world-time complications, enriches its range of travel watches with a new self-winding Calatrava Travel Time model featuring a distinctive 24-hour display, both for the time indication and the second time zone.

The ref. 5224R-001 is presented in entirely polished rose gold case distinguished by curved two-tier lugs. It has a diameter of 42mm and a svelte height of 9.65mm. In order to further highlight its elegance, Patek Philippe has replaced the traditional local time correction pushers on the left side of the case band with a patented crown-operated correction system.

The navy blue dial has contrasting finishes and rose gold applied numerals that alternate for the hours. The dial also includes cabochon 5-minute markers, all coated with luminescent material. The second-time zone is displayed by three syringe-shaped hands in rose gold, also with a luminescent coating for the local hour and minute hand. The home time is displayed by a skeletonized hour hand.

The Calatrava Travel Time is powered by the self-winding caliber 31‑260 PS FUS 24H, which is based on the ultra-thin 31-260 movement and wound by a micro-rotor. It goes without saying that it proudly displays its sophisticated finishing qualities and decorations in accordance with the Patek Philippe Seal.

Pricing for the Patek Philippe Calatrava Travel Time is marked at $57,320.

In addition, the Geneva-based manufacture also expands the Calatrava collection with three new white gold timepieces distinguished by a highly modern and graphic style. Each model sports an ebony black dial with a cool geometric pattern, enhanced by three types of finishing around its “carbon” pattern in the center. This dynamic design is enhanced by touches of yellow (6007G-001), red (6007G-010) or sky blue (6007G-011) on the counters and seconds hands as well as on the stitching and lining of the black calfskin straps with embossed “carbon” pattern.

At the heart of the entirely polished white gold case with diameter of 40mm and a height of 9.17 mm beats the self-winding caliber 26-330 S C with date indication at 3 o’clock and sweep seconds.

Pricing for the new Patek Philippe Calatrava is marked at $37,850.
