Showing at WatchTime New York 2022: RGM Model 25 Depicting the USS Constitution Leaving Malta in 1804

WatchTime New York 2022 is returning for the seventh time to Midtown Manhattan’s Gotham Hall this fall from October 21-23. Among an impressive lineup of more than 30 participating watch brands is American watchmaker RGM, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

As part of the horological event, the esteemed American maker will be showcasing its new Model 25 Depicting the USS Constitution Leaving Malta in 1804. The watch is a unique limited edition piece that utilizes unusual materials to honor the rich history of the brand as well as the long Naval association between Malta, the United States, and Great Britain.

The new Model 25 features a 40mm steel case with ribbed sides and a contoured bezel. The case is US-made and features a design that is inspired by the RGM Pennsylvania series. Through its simplicity, the case is designed to display the decorative dial within which is the true storytelling piece behind the watch.

In tune with the name of the model, the art on the dial depicts the departure of the USS Constitution from the Naval Dockyard in Malta during the Tripolitan war when the ship was granted permission by the Royal Navy to use Malta as a base. Most notably, the artwork uses a wood marquetry technique that is often seen used on furniture and finely detailed wooden objects. The technique itself is relatively new for its use in the modern world of watchmaking, and this is the second example of it to come from RGM.

Impressive from its outside in, the Model 25 opts for an RGM Modified Caliber 1120 powering its timekeeping. The movement is capable of a 42-hour power reserve, with its attractive rotor and fine finishing visible via a sapphire exhibition case back.

The new RGM Model 25 Depicting the USS Constitution Leaving Malta in 1804 is limited to the production of 3 pieces, with each retailing for $13,900.
