A Jump Back in Time: Chronoswiss Revives the Famous Delphis

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Swiss watch brand Chronoswiss, based in Lucerne, brought back the Delphis model at this year’s Watches and Wonders. Like its predecessor, which was first introduced in 1998 and wowed mechanical enthusiasts with its unique combination of indications, the Delphis Oracle features a jumping hour display and a retrograde minute hand, i.e. one that jumps back instantly when it has reached the end of the scale.

The brand added an impressive technical implementation in the form of the new automatic caliber C.6004, which La Joux-Perret developed exclusively for Chronoswiss. The mechanism boasts a power reserve of 55 hours. The craftsmanship of the dial is equally striking: the upper half of the watch face and the small seconds are painstakingly guilloched and then coated with fire enamel. The new red gold version is a limited edition of 50 pieces, but it sets the groundwork for a new Dephis collection.

Pricing for the Chronoswiss Delphis Oracle is marked at CHF 58,000 (approximately $64,600).
