Showing at WatchTime New York 2022: Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon

WatchTime New York 2022  is just over a week away, with the iconic event making its seventh annual return to Midtown Manhattan’s Gotham Hall on October 21-23. The three-day horological event is dedicated to showcasing various timepieces and giving guests the opportunity to converse with industry professionals. Over the course of the weekend, more than 30 participating watch brands will display their most sought-after releases from the past year.

Among the newest releases on display at this year’s event is the Grand Sport Tourbillon Golden Brown from Swiss watchmaker Laurent Ferrier. Being launched today, the watch is an updated version of the Grand Sport Tourbillon that was originally released in 2019. Now celebrating the 12th anniversary of the brand, Laurent Ferrier has transformed the original Grand Sport Tourbillon with a precious metal construction and warm brown colorway.

Like the steel original, the structure of the watch is inspired by racing cars with their sleek curvature and clean lines, though now executed with 5N red gold. The case measures 44mm in diameter and is secured by an integrated bracelet. On the surfaces of the case, Laurent Ferrier explores both satin-brushed and mirror-polished finishings. The cushion-shaped bezel uses a circular satin-brushed finishing and the middle case has a horizontal satin-brushed profile, while in contrast, the sides are mirror polished.

Housed within the warm-toned case is a graduated chocolate-colored dial that presents lighter tones in the middle, gradually moving outward to darker tones. Marking the hours are applied geometric indices made from the same 5N red gold as the case, as are the matching “Assegai-shaped” hands that serve as the line’s signature. The entire dial has an opaline finish that softens its rich appearance and is reminiscent of the discreet designs that are intrinsic to the Laurent Ferrier design code. At 6 o’clock there is also a small seconds indicator, itself attached to a tastefully hidden tourbillon carriage pivot.

Powering the model is the Laurent Ferrier LF619.01 tourbillon calibre. The movement features a refined carriage holding a double-balance-spring tourbillon that has been perfected to further evoke the appearance of a car engine. Revealed through a sapphire caseback, the mechanism has horizontal satin-brushed finishing and ruthenium treatment on the bridges. The movement ensures 80 hours of reserved power for the smooth operation of the sporty timepiece.

The Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon Golden Brown (ref. LCF044.R5.B1RC1) is limited to 24 pieces, with price available upon request and availability through authorized boutiques globally.
