Vacheron Constantin has unveiled a new edition of its Traditionnelle Day Date and Power Reserve, limited to just 30 pieces and available exclusively in Vacheron Constantin boutiques throughout North America.
The watch has a 39.5 mm-diameter case made of 18k 5N rose gold and measuring 10.65 mm thick. The case features the Traditionnelle collection’s straight, clear-cut lines and knurled motif around the edge of the screw-down caseback, which is fitted with a sapphire window. The crown, also in 18k 5N rose gold, is engraved with the brand’s Maltese cross emblem.
The black dial, made of 18k gold, is notable for its striking, hand-guilloché decoration, which underlies other hallmarks of Vacheron’s Traditionnelle watch dials, such as faceted, baton-shaped hour markers (double at 12 o’clock) and dauphine hands for the central hours and minutes. Other details include white painted indications and scales, black painted internal zones, a circular satin-finished external outer rim, and a snailed finish on the subdials.
Vacheron Constantin’s automatic manufacture Caliber 2475 SC drives the watch’s functions, which include the central hours, minutes, and seconds in addition to pointer-type indicators for the date (3 o’clock subdial), day of the week (9 o’clock subdial), and status of the 40-hour power reserve (scale at 6 o’clock). The movement is composed of 264 components, including 27 jewels, and has a balance frequency of 28,800 vph. Characteristic of Vacheron’s in-house movements, it has earned the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, “an independent certification of origin, of craftsmanship, of durability and of expertise.” Its decorative flourishes include côtes de Genève, beveled and rhodiumed bridges, and a circular grained mainplate.
The North America-exclusive Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Day-Date and Power Reserve (Ref. 85290/000R-B209) is mounted on a black strap made of hand-stitched, large-scale Mississippi alligator leather. The half-Maltese-cross-shaped buckle is in rose gold. Each watch retails for $45,000 and is delivered with a corrector pen for the calendar functions and engraved with the limited-edition number on the caseback.
