Showing at WatchTime New York 2017: Carl F. Bucherer Manero Chronograph Flyback

America’s largest luxury watch show, WatchTime New York, returns to Manhattan’s Gotham Hall on October 13-14 (click here for event details and to purchase tickets). For the third straight year, Lucerne’s Carl F. Bucherer will be among the exhibiting luxury watch brands, showcasing — among other new timepieces — three versions of its Manero Chronograph Flyback, with three colorful new dials, in rose-gold and stainless steel cases.

The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Chronograph Flyback features three distinctively colored dials and either a rose gold or steel case.

The watch measures 43 mm in diameter and its dial is covered by a highly, domed nonreflective sapphire crystal. The stainless steel-cased model has a matte blue-gray-colored dial, while the two rose-gold-cased versions feature a dial in either matte black or a galvanized champagne gold color. Each watch has a minute track in a subtle variation of the main dial color, two recessed subdials at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock (for chronograph minutes and running seconds, respectively), and a tachymeter scale on the dial’s outer flange. The applied, faceted hour indices and lance-shaped hands are in materials that match the case, and the date appears in a framed window at 6 o’clock.

Inside the case, and on display beneath a clear sapphire caseback, is the movement, Carl F. Bucherer’s automatic Caliber CFB 1970, which powers all of the watch’s timekeeping operations, including its flyback chronograph function. Driven by a control wheel, and operated by two mushroom-style pushers flanking the grooved crown, the chronograph is capable of making multiple time measurements in quick succession, since both chronograph hands — the center-mounted seconds counter and the small counter of the elapsed-minutes subdial — can be reset to zero while the stopwatch is still running. The movement has 25 jewels and stores a 42-hour power reserve when fully wound.

The Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback with a steel case and blue-gray dial (Ref. 00.10919.08.13.01) comes on a gray alligator leather strap with a steel pin-lock folding clasp, and is priced at $6,900. Both models with rose-gold cases (Ref. 00.10919.03.43.01, on a cognac-colored Louisiana alligator strap with rose-gold pin buckle; and Ref. 00.10919.03.33.01, with black leather strap and gold pin buckle) are priced at $18,000. If you’re interested in seeing these timepieces up close, and perhaps even finding out what they looks and feel like on your own wrist, click here to reserve your spot at WatchTime New York 2017!

I know the chronograph works with a column wheel. The question is, does it have a vertical or a horizontal clutch? Thanks in advance.

  2. Just purchased the steel version with gray strap and blue-gray dial. In my highly subjective opinion, I think the watch looks even better in person. I have received more comments about this watch than any other in my modest collection.
