Introducing the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar with Rose Opaline Dial

Offering a reminder of every ticking moment from now till eternity (almost), the latest version of the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar comes in a striking new dial color and strap option.

When it comes to the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence collection, there is no doubt that each watch undergoes extreme levels of testing at the Saxon manufacture. It is said to take around 24 days for one watch to be tested completely, hence guaranteeing the best quality for each timepiece. So when Glashütte Original announced the release of its new limited-edition Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar, we had no doubt that it would score high points for exceptional precision, stability, running time, and, of course, design aesthetics.

The latest Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar by Glashütte Original comes with a rose opaline dial (which some might call salmon-colored) and a dark blue leather strap. Limited to just 100 pieces, the new model houses a beautifully crafted automatic movement that has been developed in the expert ateliers of the renowned Saxon watchmaker.

The watch’s 42-mm stainless steel case is ergonomic in its structure. Giving the classical black/white and brown/gray colorways a break, Glashütte Original distinguishes this particular timepiece with a galvanized rose opaline dial with blue appliques and pear-shaped blued hands. The dial is specially decorated with the help of an elaborate and complicated process that involves a number of steps, resulting in a unique, silken hue that is rarely found in a watch dial. The color tone of the galvanized dial contrasts perfectly with the blued hands and blue hour appliqués. Additionally, the dial is also home to finely stepped calendar windows and a moon-phase display. The vintage-look hands add to the watch’s overall elegant aesthetic.

Featuring a perpetual calendar complication that showcases information including the day of the week, month, and leap year along with the brand’s hallmark Panorama Date, the Senator Excellence Perpetual Calendar makes an impression from the get-go.

Ticking within the timepiece is the all-new manufacture Caliber 36-12, a movement developed to maximize both user-friendliness and ease of maintenance. It is powered by a silicon balance spring that guarantees, says Glashütte Original, “exceptional precision.” Adjusting the timekeeping functions of this watch can be done with ease, as the movement automatically adjusts the day, date, and month at the same time. Equipped with this feature, the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence will not need any kind of resetting until the year 2100. Finally, apart from the blue alligator leather strap, the watch is also available in a stainless-steel bracelet version (below).

The Glashütte Original Senator Excellence perpetual Calendar with rose opaline dial is priced at 20,500 euros on the leather strap and at 21,700 on the steel bracelet. A version of this article originally appeared on our sister website, WatchTime India.

No info on any other measures like height or lug to lug. No comment on that beautiful peripheral rotor made out of Gold. No comment on what other brands would charge for similar complications (more than double). I hope you are not getting paid for this guys…
