H. Moser & Cie., a Schaffhausen-based indie brand admired by many knowledgeable watch collectors, will be exhibiting for the second year in a row at the SIHH watch salon in Geneva this coming January. As it did for its first SIHH appearance in 2016, the brand will debut a limited-edition model from its “Concept” collection. For SIHH 2016, it was the 10-piece Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Concept; SIHH 2017 will present the new Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Cosmic Green, limited to 20 pieces each in white and rose gold.
The H. Moser & Cie Centre Seconds Concept Cosmic Green derives its name from its bright green fumé dial, unblemished by subdials, windows, numerals, indices, not even a brand logo — just an expanse of shimmering green swept over by Moser’s hallmark leaf-shaped hour and minute hands and a thin central seconds hand. (Fumé dials are a Moser brand specialty; this will be its first green one.) The three-part case is 40 mm in diameter and 10.9 mm thick, with sapphire crystals in the front and back, and engraved “1 of 20” on the side. The grooved winding crown is engraved with a Moser “M.”
The movement is Moser’s manual-wound HMC 343, made in-house by the brand. It boasts a substantial seven days of power reserve, in two barrels, when fully wound; it includes a hacking seconds function and has a balance frequency of 18,000 vph. Notable technical features include the interchangeable Moser escapement, an original design that allows for easy servicing of the watch; a pallet fork and escapement wheel made of gold; specialized Moser teeth on the wheels and pinions; and another Moser invention, the Original Straumann hairspring with a stabilized Bregeut overcoil.
Both the white gold (Ref. 1343-0211) and rose gold (Ref. 1343-0110) versions of the watch are mounted on hand-stitched alligator leather straps with case-matching gold pin buckles engraved with the Moser logo. Prices for the H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Central Seconds Concept Cosmic Green will be announced at SIHH 2017.
