First introduced in 2013, the reference debuted with its first grand feu enamel dial in white in 2018. The new blue-dialed model features the same understated elements — vintage applied Breguet numerals and open-tipped Breguet hands, a subtle silvered chapter ring, and of course the signature eye-catching element, the off-centered tourbillon carriage in titanium that dazzlingly displays the small seconds. Above the tourbillon aperture is  Breguet’s renowned “secret signature,” first introduced all the way back in 1795 to prevent counterfeiting, deployed nowadays as a subtle, decorative detail. The dial, like its predecessor, is the result of a painstaking. specialized process mastered by very few, that involves applying blue shades of enamel in multiple thin layers to the gold dial, firing it in a furnace at 800º C (grand feu = “big fire”), and hand-polishing it to its desired sheen. Breguet maintains an entire atelier devoted to this ancient craft.

Inside the case, recognizable for its fluted caseband and straight, welded lugs, beats the automatic Caliber 581, the thinnest tourbillon movement produced by Breguet, at just 3 mm in height despite encompassing 334 components. (The case itself, which is 41 mm in diameter, measures just 7.45 mm in thickness.) Visible through a sapphire caseback, its talking points include its silicon balance spring, which oscillates at 4 Hz, a particularly high frequency for a tourbillon; an 80-hour power reserve stored in a patented, high-energy barrel mounted on roller bearings; its peripherally placed platinum rotor; and its host of decorative flourishes on the bridges and plates, including a Breguet signature.
