Vacheron Constantin Égérie Creative Edition: Lacing It Up With Refined Details

Recreating the delicate texture of lace using diamonds and gold sounds like an impossible task, yet that is precisely what Vacheron Constantin did for its new Égérie Creative Edition. The brand started with the Égérie Moon Phase. This model was part of the original line-up that Vacheron Constantin launched in 2020. With a diameter of 37mm, it is already a very elegant watch, or romantic would also be an appropriate term, yet with a contemporary watch. It was destined for women who like to dream but are also accustomed to working hard to make those dreams a reality.

The Égérie Creative Edition is a dream in itself, as Vacheron Constantin takes inspiration from Burano, one of the Venetian islands from which a unique and delicate form of needle lacemaking originates. To recreate this effect on the Égérie Creative Edition, Vacheron Constantin utilizes four different types of ‘Métiers d’Art,’ namely gem-setting, engraving, guilloche, and enameling. These last two crafts are used to create the backdrop, giving the dial not only a refined but also an understated pattern. Vacheron Constantin opts for black as the appropriate color, not making its creation any easier, as this is one of the more difficult colors to achieve perfect Grand Feu enamel in.

This is, by the way, not the only type of enameling that Vacheron Constantin used for the Égérie Creative Edition, as the part that covers half of the moon phase is finished in plique-à-jour. This is my favorite type of enamel, as it lacks a back and is translucent. As a result, it is very challenging to make, but the outcome is superb, as you can still see some of the hidden part of the moon phase disc. This is also a distinct difference from the clouds made of Mother-of-Pearl in the regular edition.

The lace is recreated in white gold, set with 250 colorless diamonds in a brilliant cut that are delicately engraved. This results not only in a remarkable three-dimensional effect but also brings an exceptional Égérie to the piece that goes far beyond your typical diamond setting. As is true to its nature, the Égérie Creative Edition is powered by an automatic manufacture caliber, running at 28,800 VpH/4Hz an offering a power reserve of 40 hours.

This piece of art that is the Vacheron Constantin Égérie Creative Edition, as there is literally no other justifiable way describe it, is priced at $104,000.
