Touching Monochromatic Style, Baume & Mercier Expands the Hampton Collection

Expanding its work into the realm of monochromatic color schemes and Art Deco, Baume & Mercier now adds two new releases to its Hampton Collection. Encompassing a steel and red edition as well as a pink gold and blue model, the two timepieces join the established modern series, which like other popular models like those from Cartier channel elegant geometry on the wrist.

As mentioned, there are two new additions to the Hampton Collection, each with a different colorway and case material. The first, the ref. 10673, is made of polished steel with a steel crown set featuring a synthetic burgundy spinel. The second, the ref. 10674, is made of 18K (750/1000) pink gold and polished titanium, featuring a PVD-coated steel crown set with a synthetic blue spinel. Both are rectangular-shaped cases with dimensions of 35 x 22.2mm, with a relative thinness at only 6.9mm in height.

For the dial, the steel edition opts for a burgundy colorway, while the gold variation housing a blue aesthetic, with the colors matching their respective crowns and straps. Both dials are finished with a glittery varnish “inspired by gemstones and star rubies,” creating a sparkling effect when light hits the surface. Beyond that detailing, the dial is very minimalist, with no indices and marked only with an applied Baume & Mercier logo, the Greek letter Phi, placed at the 12 o’clock position, along with some printed descriptors. Sword style hands tick over head, with the caliber MHH057 powering the pair, with mechanism described by the brand as a “new-generation quartz movement,” and it able to maintain “eight years of autonomy.”

While the last released Baume & Mercier Hampton watches were characterized by their elaborate Milano mesh straps, these two new models each come with a calfskin strap: burgundy with tone-on-tone stitching and a steel pin buckle and blue with tone-on-tone stitching and a PVD steel buckle.

Available now via the brand’s website and authorized boutiques, the new steel edition retails for $1,700, while the rose gold model is marked at $3,850
