Political discourse took a back seat to talk of fine watches and rare whiskies in our nation’s capital last night as WatchTime joined the online luxury consignment house The RealReal in hosting its “Night of Experts” collectors’ event in Washington, D.C.
Held at the RealReal’s townhouse offices in Georgetown, the event featured a number of notable vintage and modern timepieces from the RealReal’s collection, including an ultra-rare Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Tourbillon Grande Date, that guests could see and try on. The evening’s centerpiece was a panel discussion on watch authentication, the secondary market, and how the new digital landscape is affecting luxury retail, moderated by WatchTime digital media editor Mark Bernardo, and featuring The RealReal’s horologist Lance Maxwell and managing director Michael Groffenberger. Continuing the “experts” theme, an array of fine wines and whiskies, including several whisky rarities, were served by a whisky sommelier, along with light hors d’oeuvres. Maxwell and another RealReal horologist, Rebecca Anthony, also offered guests a special treat: free valuations of their personal timepieces. WatchTime publisher Sara Orlando and events manager Minda Larsen were also in attendance and mingled with the attendees. Scroll down to see photos from the event.
Good afternoon,
I am in the process of gathering research in the area of Horology and I wanted to know if your staff would be able to provide background information on the movement numbers as it pertains to watches by an interview or through other means i.e., fax or email communications.
Kind regards,
Bertina Lewis
