Cycling Challenge: Norqain Launches Wild One Tortour Limited Edition

As official timekeeper at the Tortour cycling event, Norqain launches the limited Wild One Tortour timepiece. Tortour, a pun of German Tortur meaning “torture,” is a 1,000k bike race in Switzerland, which is the world’s largest non-stop cycling event. The first riders set off from the start/finish line in Küsnacht on the banks of Lake Zurich early in the evening of August 17th and are unlikely to finish until two days later. This is a race that pushes riders to their limits.

Perfectly designed for this occasion, the Wild One comes in an ultra-light case weighing just 84 grams and shock-resistant to 5,000g. Made of the brand’s genuine carbon-fibre composite called Norteq, it is water resistant to 100 meters and features a a visible white rubber shock absorber that surrounds the titanium container housing the manufacture Caliber NN20/1.

Produced by Kenissi, the Caliber NN20/1 self-winding movement is chronometer-certified and provides a power reserve of 70 hours. It can be seen through the exhibition case back which is decorated with the Tortour logo and the limitation number.

The dial is also an engineering masterpiece. It displays a three-level laser-cut mandala-like pattern that highlights the watch’s multi-dimensional form. Both the dial and the skeletonized indexes are detailed with high-grade white X1 Super-LumiNova. As with previous examples of the Wild One, the watch boasts a plate on the flank that can be engraved. Limited to 15 pieces, the Wild One Tortour Edition is available online or exclusively at two Norqain retailers in Zürich. It is priced at CHF 2,500.
