The selling price exceeded the pre-sale estimate of 4.5 to 5 million Swiss francs. Patek created 4 examples of the Caliber 89 in 1989 to mark the company’s 150th anniversary. This example is in yellow gold.

Other top sellers included a platinum Patek Ref. 3990 perpetual calendar chronograph with moon phase and diamond bezel that brought $316,000, a 1952 Rolex Ref. 6100 “Caravelle” with cloisonne dial sold for $283,000, a 1954 Patek Ref. 2481 with tropics cloisonne dial realized $230,000, and a Patek Ref. 5012 Celestial wristwatch brought $225,000.
