Another Look at Rolex’s Latest and Most Colorful Oyster Perpetual

At this year’s Watches and Wonders, Rolex was not one to shy away from a bit of colorful experimentation, especially with its newest Oyster Perpetual model. The classic design sports a creative new dial characterized by a pattern of vivid-colored circles against a light turquoise blue background. Although the dial design makes a statement with its bright coloring, the watch is available in three diameters with a 10mm difference between the smallest and largest example. This feature introduces an edge of versatility that only an Oyster Perpetual could accomplish, regardless of its bold design.

Perhaps to be expected from an Oyster Perpetual, the case is made from the Rolex proprietary Oystersteel. The material boasts anti-corrosion properties along with general resistance to unexpected abrasions and force. This colorful design is made available in three diameters, 31mm, 36mm, and 41mm, creating versatility in the size and styling possibilities of the watch. The watch has a smooth, polished bezel and all three size variations are fitted on an Oyster bracelet. The three-piece link bracelet is a signature of the brand, equipped with a folding “Oysterclasp” that is meant to prevent unwanted opening.

While the exterior silhouette is pretty standard for an Osyter Perpertual, things get a bit more exciting when it comes to the dial. The majority color of the dial is a soft turquoise blue atop of which is a sporadic pattern of candy pink, turquoise blue, yellow, coral red, and green circles outlined in black. The hues of each of the bubbles is a reintroduction of the five vivid colors Rolex introduced to its Oyster Perpetual collection in 2020, making a nod to the recent past with a reimagined composition.

The Oyster Perpetual 31 is the only one of the three versions powered by the caliber 2232. This mechanism is fitted with a Syloxi hairspring and a paramagnetic escape wheel made from nickel-phosphorus. It offers a power reserve of approximately 55 hours. The Oyster Perpetual 36 and Oyster Perpetual 41 are both equipped with the caliber 3230. This movement was introduced in 2020 and incorporates a number of contemporary technological advancements, like Paraflex shock absorbers. It has a blue Parachrom hairspring and a Chronergy escapement that extends the power reserve to 70 hours.

Pricing for new Rolex Oyster Perpetual is as follows: the ref. 277200 (31mm) is priced at approximately $5,900 , the ref. 126000 (36mm) retails for approximately $6,300, and the ref. 124300 (41mm) is priced at $6,700.
