Showing at WatchTime New York 2023: MB&F HM9 Sapphire Vision

In the world of haute horlogerie, MB&F stands out equal as an innovator and provocateur. With its two creative collections centered on its Legacy and Horological Machines, the brand has consistently captured the attention of enthusiasts and the market at large with its industry-leading mechanical thinking. Much is true of the brand’s latest, the HM9 Sapphire Vision, which expands upon earlier iterations of the design for a novel 2023 editon. The watch, alongside the fascinating brand and the works of more than thirty other watchmakers, will be on full display at this year’s WatchTime New York 2023, with tickets available now, here.

Expanding upon the original 2018 design, the new MB&F HM9 Sapphire Vision defies traditional watch design with its striking case and inner workings. Encased within an outer hull crafted from sapphire crystal and white gold, this timepiece is a testament to boundary-pushing watch engineering. The case’s curved and bubbled form, intricately assembled in three parts, is sealed with a proprietary combination of patented three-dimensional gaskets and high-tech compound bonding. The unique dimensions accommodate the unique properties of sapphire crystal, enhancing both its aesthetics and durability, while hinting at the model’s ocean-dweller inspiration.

The dial of the HM9 Sapphire Vision is a transparent canvas that reveals the intricate happenings of its mechanical heart. Read from the side of the wrist, its sapphire crystal surface features Super-LumiNova markings, ensuring legibility in various lighting conditions. This crystal dial also serves as a window into the captivating world within, where every component is on display. The openwork design showcases the craftsmanship of MB&F’s watchmakers, with hand-polished balance bridges, chamfered edges, and meticulously decorated surfaces. It’s a harmonious blend of form and function, where the beauty of mechanical precision takes center stage.

MB&F’s in-house manual-winding movement powers this horological masterpiece. The engine features not one but two fully independent balance wheels linked by a planetary differential. This innovative approach ensures precision and consistency. To mitigate the sensitivity to shocks, helicoidal springs are employed between the movement and the case, offering both elasticity and stability. The complex mechanical computation, facilitated by the planetary differential, results in a stable and accurate time display.

Pricing for the new 2023 editions of MB&F’s HM9 Sapphire Vision is marked at $490,000, with the white gold version limited to five iterations.

Don’t miss the chance to see this watch live and in-person at WatchTime New York 2023 alongside timepieces from more than thirty other incredible maisons. To learn more about the model, visit MB&F, here, and to purchase tickets for the event, click here.
