Just released by Oris is the new Hank Aaron Limited Edition Big Crown Pointer Date, a namesake tribute to the late American icon and Atlanta Braves Hall-of-Famer, Hank Aaron. The Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation partnered with Oris on this limited run of their much loved Big Crown.
Henry Louis Aaron, nicknamed “Hammer” or “Hammerin’ Hank”, was an American professional baseball right fielder and designated hitter who played 23 seasons in Major League Baseball, from 1954 through 1976. In 1994, he and his wife Billye founded the Chasing the Dream Foundation, awarding millions of dollars in scholarships to youth with limited opportunities.
Accordingly, the Hank Aaron Limited Edition is distinguished by a color scheme of blue, red, and white, which is inspired by his uniform. It is presented in a 40mm stainless-steel case with a fluted bezel and oversized crown. The eponymous pointer date hand has a red tip, while the hour hand is designed in historic cathedral style. As it is crucial for a pilot’s watch, the white dial with a red-outlined blue minute ring is luminescent for best legibility in all light conditions. The case back is engraved with a motif of Hank Aaron and his famous cross-handed batting stance. As for the movement, it has the Oris 754 which operates at 28,800 vph with a 38-hour power reserve.
Pricing for the Hank Aaron Limited Edition is marked at CHF 2,300. Limited to 2,297 pieces, the watch is delivered with an additional NATO strap in a specially designed watch box.
