Debuting at WatchTime New York 2023: Zeitwinkel “MAKS” 188°

Among the over thirty-five incredible brands set to showcase at WatchTime New York 2023 this weekend at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall, the Swiss watchmaker Zeitwinkel is prepared to join the show for the first time. For its debut, the handmade maision will present its new “MAKS” series as an exclusive WatchTime New York release, allowing attendees the first opportunity to see the watches a part of it live and in-person. A fusion of tradition and innovation, Zeitwinkel’s “MAKS” series showcases a harmonious blend of intricate design and vivid hues that have helped define the brand.

The “MAKS” series, is led by the 39mm model 188°, which is defined by its straightforward, ultra-clean design. The case design makes use of simple lines upon first glance, with finely finished details seen in its side engravings and contrasting textures of polished and satin accents. A leather strap that’s undergone a traditional full-bugg technique secures the watch to the wrist, with its various color options corresponding to the multiple dial options.

Underneath a sapphire crystal, the vibrant hues of the watch come to life in the form of “Bleu Glacier,” “Vert de Limón,” “Rouge Lobélie,” and “Orange d’Édouard” color options. Hand-applied layers of lacquer, in vibrant shades, infuse brilliance into each aesthetic, capturing light in a dance of colors while preserving the classic elegance that defines Zeitwinkel watches. The texture of the dial is formed via a novel laser technology developed by the brand, where interlocking Zeitwinkel logos originating from the seconds sub-dial together create a mesmerizing three-dimensional effect. Upon the attention-grabbing texture of the lacquer, applied indices mark each hour, while a 6 o’clock sub-dial is at work for the running seconds counter, and a pair of slim dauphine-style hands sweep overhead for the hour and minute indicators.

At the heart of the “MAKS” series lies Zeitwinkel’s distinctive ZW0102 caliber. This self-winding manufacture movement, a result of independent development without borrowing from existing calibers, exemplifies Zeitwinkel’s dedication to superior craftsmanship. Plates and bridges made of untreated German silver and meticulous hand assembly reflect Zeitwinkel’s philosophy of marrying tradition with mechanical precision. A substantial 72-hour power reserve supports its functioning.

The new Zeitwinkel  “MAKS” series is available as of the start of WatchTime New York 2023, with pricing available upon request. Positioned as a non-limited but bespoke series, each timepiece is available for via both Zeitwinkel and select partners worldwide, with production to begin following a customer’s order and delivery to occur approximately four months later.
