Nomos Glashütte Wins Another Design Award

p150Germany’s Nomos Glashütte continues to rack up design awards. Following its iF Design Award, the watch brand has received the GOOD DESIGN Award from the Chicago Athenaeum in 2012 for its Tangente Datum watch, just a year after winning the same prize the previous year, for the Nomos Zürich.

The GOOD DESIGN award capped off a year of accolades for Nomos. The brand also earned the “Goldene Unruh” (Golden Balance Wheel) prize and the title “Wristwatch of the Year” for its Zürich Weltzeit and Tangomat GMT and was voted first place at the Munichtime and Viennatime watch fairs.

The history of the GOOD DESIGN Award dates back to the year 1950, when Charles and Ray Eames, Eero Saarinen, and Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. first awarded the prize in Chicago. Today the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design cooperates with the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies in Dublin in bestowing this major recognition of product design.
