The focus for Hublot this year was similar to year’s past: a total devotion to the research and development of new materials and dial structures that stand out in a crowded field of new releases. One watch that was released at Baselworld this week and embodies that brand ideal is the Big Bang Unico Red Magic.

Hublot has introduced what is described as the first “vibrantly-colored ceramic” to enter the watch industry. There’s zero doubt to that claim — the new model is bright red and impossible to miss. The ceramic that was developed by Hublot’s R&D team took four years to bring from concept to completion. The color is reached through a fusion of pressure and heat that sinters the ceramic without burning the pigments. The ceramic is also incredibly dense, boasting a hardness of 1500 HVI compared to 1200 HV2 of conventional ceramics.
The 45 mm column wheel chronograph is limited to 500 total pieces. It features the Unico HUB124 manufacture movement. The red ceramic is surely a high technical achievement and I wouldn’t be surprised to see future Hublot models — inside and outside the Big Bang collection — featuring the freshly-developed material
I will like to know how mush is this watch. Is beatiful my son will love it since he love red.
Good job Hublot! This is not Rolex path: cut supply and once a year switch colors, this is is innovative and bold. Does not work for everyone, but its alive. Its art of watch making.
Only Newport & Miami Beach tosses would wear this gaudy crap.
And of course tosses from Eastern Australia. ;-)
