Porsche Design Chronotimer Collection

In 1963, Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche designed the legendary Porsche 911. Almost 10 years later he embarked on a mission to build a company that takes the spirit of Porsche beyond the automotive and to create new luxury lifestyle products.

It has been more than four decades since that company, Porsche Design, first revolutionized the premium watch industry by launching the world-first matte black Chronograph I. Today, the renowned forge of innovation presents a brand new collection — the Porsche Design Chronotimer Collection — reflecting the new direction for this luxury lifestyle brand.

By launching the Chronotimer Collection, Porsche Design celebrates the brand’s natural passion for racing: With the specific needs of racecar drivers in mind, Porsche Design founder Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche relied on matte black surfaces and titanium at an early stage. These strengths have not lost any significance since then, and thus feature the new collection. The series will be launched worldwide in July 2015.

The Chronotimer Collection embodies sportiness, speed, and performance. The design of the timepieces is inspired by the nonreflective instruments in a racing cockpit, which are entirely matte black except for the white numerals and hands. This combination, along with a double-sided, seven-layer-coated nonreflective sapphire crystal, minimizes glare for optimal performance and ensures a perfect readability of the time.

All the models in the Chronotimer Collection feature a captivating titanium case. The timepieces offer a variety of surface finishes and material choices for the strap, including high-quality leather, high-tech fabric, titanium, and rubber, ensuring a personal touch for each reference. The watches’ bezels also display a focus on individuality and craftsmanship: bezels in the Chronotimer Collection are available in matte black-coated titanium, brushed titanium, or 18k rose gold. The color of the dials — in matte black, carbon, deep blue, or white — gives each individual timepiece a striking appearance.

The Porsche Design Chronotimer Collection is the brand’s first timepiece collection developed in-house by Porsche Design Timepieces AG, based in Solothurn, Switzerland, in cooperation with the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See, Austria, and all the watches are also manufactured in Switzerland. The watches’ characteristics are both timeless and modern, with case diameters of 42 millimeters. Then watches in the Chronotimer Collection are powered by the mechanical ETA Valjoux 7750 chronograph movement, with a power reserve of 48 hours and a date display at 3 o’clock. The black-tinted sapphire caseback shows the inner workings of the exclusive, energy-optimized Porsche Design rotor. Porsche Design Chronotimer Collection watches are water-resistant to 5 bar (50 meters).
