This fall, G-SHOCK introduced the latest update to the luxury-focused MT-G series, unveiling the new MTGB2000D-1A just in time for the holidays. Like all previous models in the MT-G collection, the latest reference brings together a distinct combination of style, toughness, and practicality. Though for its many similarities to previous models in the series, the new MTGB2000D-1A adds advanced shock-resistant structures alongside lightweight metal, carbon fiber and fine resin materials, all not previously seen in the luxury line-up.

At the heart of the new watch, we find a Metal Core Guard like those used in previous MT-G models, yet unlike previous models the MTGB2000D-1A amplifies the feature via an innovative Dual Core Guard structure, which incorporates a carbon fiber-reinforced resin monocoque case within a stainless steel chassis allowing superior shock resistance at a lower overall weight. This is accomplished foremost via the natural light weight and rigidity brought by the interior carbon monocoque, with its outer frame using stainless steel, further providing the watch a refined metal look when viewed straight on and from the sides. This new structure achieves a watch with more visible metal while retaining the popular mid-sized case at 55.1 × 51 × 15.9mm. As a result of all the upgraded materials and construction, the new model is also about 15% lighter than previous models in the MT-G lineup, weighing only 127 grams.

Among its outward-most facets, the MTGB2000D-1A model features a black bezel and dial with a layered-composite band made with a higher proportion of fine resin paired with metal parts. The dial is then protected via a sapphire glass with non-reflective coating on the inner surface for clarity, and the case & bezel undergo rough polishing to their beveled edges for a mirror finish. Powering the timing functionality of the watch seen on the dial is a Tough Solar powered movement, which provides up to five months of power with normal use and zero light exposure, 29 months of power with its power-save function in total darkness, and virtually indefinite amounts of power if the watch is used normally and is regularly exposed to light.

Keeping to the theme of boosting the utmost functionality, the MTGB2000D-1A is also the first in the MT-G series to be equipped with three dual-coil motors. This upgraded feature has two primary benefits, the first in assisting in swift operation of the hands, while the second is in its ability to receive radio wave time-calibration signals to instantaneously adjust the time when paired with a smartphone using the dedicated G-SHOCK Connected App. Other notable features on the model include Triple G Resist (Shock, Vibration, and Centrifugal Force Resistance) to ensure toughness and automatic time adjustment to the local time zone when crossing zones.

The MTGB2000D-1A will retail for $1,000 and is available for purchase now at select G-SHOCK retailers, the G-SHOCK Soho Store, and via gshock.com.
