The newest model in G-SHOCK’s BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Connected G-Steel collection, introduced in 2017 as the top-of-the-line series in the G-STEEL family, offers a touch of sporty luxury in addition to G-SHOCK’S famed toughness and functionality. The GSTB100G-2A features a rose-gold IP on the case’s metal parts and a dark blue color scheme on the watch dial and strap.
The recently redesigned new layer guard structure makes the watch slimmer than its predecessors in the G-STEEL line and the BLE Connected movement utilizes Bluetooth low energy technology to pair the model with a smartphone via the G-SHOCK app, enabling its wearer change the watch’s time zone, check its battery level, set a timer or alarm on the watch directly through the app. There also a unique phone finder function that will set off the alarm on your smartphone so that you can find it if lost and within range. Each watch in the collection, is equipped with Tough Solar technology, which offers solar energy charging capabilities and displays its current power level on a turbine-inspired subdial disk at 9 o’clock — here offered with either blue or rose gold detailing. A Super LED light can be activated to illuminate the dial for maximum visibility in the dark.
The case, topped with a sapphire crystal, measures 53.8 mm and in typical G-SHOCK fashion is highly shock resistant as well as water resistant to 200 meters. The model’s array of functions includes a 1-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, dual time/world time displays, daily alarm, a full auto calendar accurate to 2099, day and date indications, and a power saving mode in which the watch’s hands stop to save power after an unused period in the dark all while keeping timekeeping in the background.
