E.C. Andersson Watch Co.’s 2019 novelty, the Denise divers’ watch, is being delivered to customers just in time for their summer adventures. After pre-order fulfillments, the company now has only 20 pieces of the Denise Calypso-Blue left in stock for July delivery, and it is once again offering a customary 5% discount to WatchTime readers.
The Denise is designed and built according to E.C. Andersson’s philosophy of bold Scandinavian design. The use of clear-cut lines and a mixture of satinized and polished steel surfaces makes the watch appear both durable and sophisticated. The unidirectional ceramic bezel is illuminated and features a subtle compass function that adds to the utilitarian character of the watch.
With a modest 40-mm diameter, the watch sits comfortably on the wrist, a comfort level boosted with the aid of a micro-adjustable rubber bracelet. The lugs are 20 mm apart to fit standard straps, and the case is designed to also accommodate an integrated steel bracelet that will be released later this year for customers of the watch.
With its thick, double-domed sapphire crystal and guarded screw-in crown, the watch allows its wearer to dive to a depth of 200 meters and legibly displays the time through large, illuminated indexes and signature “Bohuslän” hands. The centrally positioned power-reserve is a testament to E.C. Andersson’s ability to display numerous elements of functionality without compromising the harmony of the overall design.
Named after the submarine that was carried aboard Jacques Cousteau’s oceanographic research vessel, the Denise Calypso-Blue draws its inspiration from important nautical history and its design cues from previous E.C. Andersson models, including the return of the lively, gradient-blue dial that symbolizes the company’s close connection to the Atlantic ocean.
