In the Metal: G-SHOCK Debuts a Connected Watch with a Carbon Bezel

G-SHOCK has unveiled its latest technical innovation with the most recent update to the G-STEEL Line: the GSTB100XA-1A with Carbon Bezel.

First announced back in June at Couture Time in Las Vegas, the GSTB100XA-1A links to your smartphone through the use of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for greater accuracy and the support of a powerful network. Through the use of the G-SHOCK Connected app, the wristwatch boasts a range of features including automatic time adjustment and a worldtimer for over 300 cities.

And, thanks to G-SHOCK’s proprietary solar-charging capabilities, the watch is powered just by being worn outside. Whether you’re walking to the office, hiking, or mowing the lawn, the GSTB100XA-1A will maintain a healthy level of charge.

One of the most intriguing new details is the blend of metals and alloys throughout the watch’s dial, case, and bezel. Just as its name implies, the GSTB100XA-1A G-Steel Connected has a multi-dimensional stainless steel case and a carbon bezel construction that is complemented by a sapphire crystal and the application of Toray Industries’ — a well-regarded nanotechnology firm in Japan — TORAYCA ® and NANOALLOY ® materials.

Other noteworthy features include a super LED light, 200-meter water resistance, Neo-Brite luminous hands, the option to set multiple alarms a day, stopwatch functionality, and a countdown timer.

The 53.8-mm timepiece combines the bold look of G-SHOCK with some of the brand’s most impressive technical updates. It is priced at $600 and will be available soon.
