A Punch of Light: Bell & Ross Unveils BR 03-92 Full Lum Limited Edition

Ever since the introduction of the BR 03-92 Diver in 2017, its first dive watch in the iconic square case shape, French watchmaker Bell & Ross has gone on to expand this popular model into an entire collection. This month, the brand announced the debut of the BR 03-92 Full Lum Limited Edition, the seventh reference added to this “Instrument” collection, here with a dial coated entirely in Super-LumiNova.

The BR 03-92 Full Lum Ref. BR0392-D-C5-CE/SRB is limited to 999 pieces.

The new model represents the first use of Bell & Ross’s “Lum” technique, used on several pilot-inspired models and inspired by lights on airport runways, on its diving collection. The case measures 42 mm x 42 mm in diameter (and based off the brand’s 2019 model) 11 mm in height. The black ceramic case, which is water-resistant to 300 meters, is “shock-resistant” with “anti-magnetic protection,” two required features for all dive watches as per the ISO 6425 international standards established in 1996.

Circling the new timepiece’s inner edge is the rotating bezel with a unidirectional 60-minute scale to set dive times. The bezel’s numerals and the dial’s applied indices and skeletonized hands contain pigments of green Super-LumiNova C3, offering an additional layer of legibility to the “Full Lum” dial during daylight and nighttime.

The dial, protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, glows an “ultra-phosphorescent green,” according to the brand, with its hours, minutes, and seconds hands joined by a small circular date window at 4:30. The movement inside the watch is the automatic caliber BR-Cal.302 (the same movement used in previous models of the BR 03-92 Diver) based on the Sellita SW 300.1, with a 38-hour power reserve.

Ceramic case with anti-magnetic protection.

The BR 03-92 Full Lum Limited Edition (999 pieces) comes mounted on a black rubber strap (also with the option of an ultra-resistant black synthetic canvas strap), with a black PVD-coated steel pin buckle, and is priced at $4,500. The BR03-92 Diver Full Lum is available now through Bell & Ross’ E-shop.

Beautiful indeed, no doubt about it. But really now, 4.500$ it for a SW 300-1 and a fully lumed dial?!? The real value of a watch is the resale value. When I can get the same money I paid on a watch 24h after I bought it from an AD, now that’s what I call an investment… otherwise it’s just a whim. Beautiful as it may be, but a whim nevertheless. You can argue as much as you want but the truth is out there, on Chrono 24… second hand price as close as possible to retail, that’s what value is all about. The rest is silence. And hopes.
