The latest Prospex Speedtimer Chronograph Limited Edition SRQ045J1 is inspired by Seiko’s first stopwatch, which was developed for timing winter sport activities. As the official timing device of a major sporting event held in Sapporo, Japan in 1972, the original stopwatch, designed to meet winter conditions, featured an all-black dial.
The re-edition, limited to 600 pieces, does not only sport a sandblasted black watch face for reflection-free readability but, thanks to a hard coating, also a completely black case. It measures 42.5mm in diameter and is water resistant to 100 meters.
Behind the exhibition caseback is the in-house self-winding caliber 8R46 with 45 hours of power reserve, which is equipped with a column-wheel and vertical-clutch architecture.
The Prospex Speedtimer Chronograph Limited Edition SRQ045J1 is priced at at $3,200 when converted to USD and is presented on a black leather strap and will be available from February 2023.
