TAG Heuer Introduces Formula 1 Solargraph x Indy 500 Limited Edition

With the new Formula 1 Solargraph x Indy 500, TAG Heuer continues its long-running connection to motorsport. Limited to 1,110 pieces, the 38mm sports watch references the Indianapolis 500 through a series of subtle design details while incorporating the brand’s light-powered Solargraph movement.

Few sporting events are as closely associated with precision timing as the Indianapolis 500. Since its inaugural running in 1911, and taking place again this weekend, the race has been defined by endurance, concentration, and margins measured in fractions of a second. With the new Formula 1 Solargraph x Indy 500, TAG Heuer revisits that connection through a limited-edition sports watch that builds on the design language of the Formula 1 collection while referencing one of the most recognizable events in American motorsport. The release also marks the thirteenth Indy 500-themed edition created by the brand, extending a relationship that has become a recurring part of TAG Heuer’s broader motorsport identity.

The watch is housed in a 38mm sandblasted steel case, a size that reflects the more compact proportions introduced with the latest generation of the Formula 1 collection. The overall construction remains straightforward and utilitarian, with a focus on legibility and everyday wearability. Several design elements connect the watch directly to the Indy 500. Both the dial and the screw-down case back feature the Indy 500 logo, while a brick-pattern motif references the Yard of Bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway — the historic strip of exposed brick marking the start-finish line of the circuit.

The black opaline dial is framed by a brown flange carrying the minute scale, creating a restrained contrast that distinguishes this edition from the standard Formula 1 Solargraph models. Applied rhodium-plated indexes and broad hands are filled with white Superluminova, emitting a green glow in the dark. A red central seconds hand introduces an additional racing-inspired accent. The bidirectional TH-Polylight bezel remains one of the defining visual signatures of the modern Formula 1 collection. Here, it appears in black with a 60-minute scale printed in brown to match the dial details.

Powering the watch is the Caliber TH50-00 Solargraph movement. Introduced into the Formula 1 collection in 2025, the light-powered caliber uses both natural and artificial light as an energy source. According to TAG Heuer, one minute of direct sunlight provides enough energy to run the watch for a full day, while a complete charge delivers up to ten months of autonomy in darkness. Even after the watch has stopped completely, ten seconds of light exposure are sufficient to restart the movement. The accumulator is designed for a lifespan of approximately fifteen years, emphasizing long-term practicality and reduced maintenance requirements compared to conventional battery-powered quartz watches. The watch is paired with a sandblasted three-row steel bracelet equipped with a folding clasp, double safety push-buttons, and an extension link for adjustment. Pricing is marked at $2,250.
