Citizen Promaster Wave Tracker: A New Eco-Drive Sailing Watch for Regattas and Life at Sea
The ocean calls
More than 40 years after launching its first regatta watch, Citizen is introducing the new Promaster Wave Tracker, a purpose-built timepiece designed for sailors and watersports enthusiasts. Powered by the newly developed Eco-Drive Caliber U812, the watch combines practical maritime functions with a high-resolution Memory-in-Pixel (MIP) display. Available in four versions, the Wave Tracker is designed to support users both during competitive yacht racing and everyday adventures on the water.

CitizenFour Decades of Sailing Heritage
Citizen’s history of sailing watches dates back to 1985 with the introduction of the "Wind Jack." Designed by a passionate sailor who incorporated his experience from international regattas into the project, the watch established Citizen’s presence in the world of yacht racing. The new Promaster Wave Tracker continues that legacy, bringing modern digital functionality to the brand’s marine-oriented sports watch collection while retaining a strong focus on practical usability.

CitizenRace Mode for the Perfect Start
At the heart of the Wave Tracker is its dedicated Race Mode. The regatta countdown timer is specifically designed for yacht racing, counting down the minutes before the starting signal and then automatically switching to chronograph mode once the race begins. This allows skippers to precisely time their approach to the starting line during the crucial pre-start phase. The rotating bezel also serves as a slide-rule calculator for determining angles and courses, while helping sailors identify optimal points of sail based on wind direction.

CitizenTide Information, Moon Phases, and Solar Data
Another key feature is the Tide Graph function. The watch calculates tide levels for a selected location and displays hourly forecasts in an easy-to-read graphical format. Owners can also view high and low tide times as well as changes in tidal direction. In addition, the Wave Tracker provides synchronized moon phase information and sunrise and sunset times for 203 locations worldwide. These functions make it a useful companion not only for competitive sailors but also for boaters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

CitizenNew Eco-Drive Caliber U812
Powering the watch is Citizen’s newly developed Eco-Drive Caliber U812. The light-powered movement converts both natural and artificial light into energy, eliminating the need for battery replacements. The caliber delivers an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and offers a power reserve of up to 360 days when fully charged. In power-save mode, the watch can continue running for up to three years in complete darkness. Additional features include a 1/100-second chronograph capable of measuring up to 24 hours, a perpetual calendar programmed through February 28, 2100, a power reserve indicator, a light-level indicator, LED illumination, and luminous hands and markers.
