At the end of last month, Panerai expanded its catalogue with a contemporary interpretation of its legendary Luminor: the GMT Ceramica PAM01783. Limited to just 80 pieces, the 40mm timepiece merges the brand’s signature elements— from the iconic crown-protecting bridge to the sandwich dial— with a practical GMT complication designed for travelers. The PAM01783 is clad in lightweight, high-tech ceramic that is as durable as it is comfortable on the wrist. Resistant to heat, scratches, and corrosion, the material performs flawlessly in the urban environment while withstanding the demands of global travel. The black, sandblasted case paired with a polished bezel gives this historically inspired watch a bold, contemporary character.

The deep blue dial, highlighted with a sunburst finish, features a central arrow-tipped hand to track a second time zone. White Super-LumiNova X2 ensures excellent legibility both at night and in challenging environments. A subtle nod to Panerai’s Italian heritage comes in the form of the “BiTempo” inscription, indicating the GMT functionality.

Visible through a smoked sapphire caseback, the automatic P.900/GMT caliber beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, offering a three-day power reserve, seconds stop, and date display. Energy is stored in a single barrel powered by a bidirectional rotor.

Water-resistant to 30 bar or 300 meters, the Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01783 undergoes rigorous testing in Panerai’s Laboratorio di Idee. It comes on a black calf leather strap and includes an additional blue rubber strap, both equipped with the PAM Click Release System for effortless, tool-free changes. The watch is priced at $16,300 without taxes.
