Introduced in 1963 and designed by the one-and-only Jack Heuer, TAG Heuer's Carrera embodies the brand's longstanding connection to high-speed racing and thew world of motorsports. Tailored to the needs of drivers, it featured a clean, legible dial and chronograph functions, making it ideal for timing laps. Over the years, the Carrera has become a symbol of precision and performance and a testament to TAG Heuer's dedication to both craftsmanship and the racing spirit.

At this year's Watches and Wonders, TAG Heuer unveils a new generation of the Carrera Day-Date, shifting its focus toward the more elegant side of the collection. It's inspired by the so called "success watch," the reference 1158 from the 1970s. Back then, the company celebrated its listing on the Swiss stock exchange. Members of the Heuer family, including Jack Heuer, and many of the brand's famous ambassadors, such as Nikki Lauda wore this Carrera.

The new line-up comprises of four variants that retain the Carrera's signature design, with a clean, instantly legible and wide dial framed by a thin bezel and covered by a sapphire crystal in the sought-after "Glass Box" design introduced two years ago. However, subtle changes can be observed that enhance both the readability and the 3D effect, such as the larger, more spaced-out applied hour markers. The weekday-date function stands prominently out, thanks to its two-part framed window and a bridge connecting the elements. On certain models, the indication is executed in a tone-on-tone style. It goes without saying that the markers and hour and minute hands are coated with Superluminova for night-time readability.

The dials give each piece of the collection their own unique personality. The signature Carrera Day-Date blue model (WDA2112.BA0043) features a sunray-brushed finish that exudes classic elegance, while the smokey red opaline dial (WDA2113.BA0043) adds a monochromatic vibrant touch. For those who favor understated refinement, the black opaline dial is also an elegant choice. The latter is offered with a metal bracelet, either in plain steel (WDA2111.BA0043) or two-tone style with the center links crafted from pink gold (WDA2111.BD0001). The bracelet has also been updated with a new quick-change link system allowing the wearers to adjust the size effortlessly without the need for tools.

Adding further versatility, the collection includes a variant with a black grained dial (WDA2110.FC6614), distinguished by its striking red lacquered central hand and vivid touches of blue. This version is paired with a black leather strap with matching blue lining on the side.

Co-developed with AMT and exclusively produced for TAG Heuer, the Carrera Day-Dates are powered by the manufacture movement TH31 with an impressive 80-hour power reserve. Its beautiful decorations come to life through the sapphire case back of the 41mm stainless steel case, with the shield-shaped oscillating mass taking center stage.

Pricing starts at CHF3,900 or approximately $4,400 when converted to USD. The bracelet variants retail for CHF4,100 and CHF4,300 respectively $4,600 and $4,800. The two-tone version is priced at CHF8,250 or $9,340.

Carrera Date Twin-Time

The Carrera Date Twin-Time is also a stylish new addition to TAG Heuer's collection, with a focus on the GMT function. Its sunray-brushed teal dial creates a vibrant, eye-catching effect, while the two-tone flange with a 24-hour scale offers practical use for tracking a second time zone. The contrasting night and day hours make it particularly useful for travelers. The color-coordinated date at 6 o’clock provides additional functionality, and the rhodium-plated applied Arabic numerals give the dial a sophisticated and distinctive appearance, setting it apart from the Carrera Day-Date.
