Nomos Glashütte Brings a Fresh Shade of Green to the Tangente neomatik 38 Update

Nomos Glashütte adds a forest-green dial to the Tangente Neomatik 38 Update, pairing its patented ring-date display with the ultra-thin DUW 6101 caliber.

Green has become one of watchmaking’s defining colors in recent years, but few brands have embraced expressive palettes as consistently — and as tastefully — as Nomos Glashütte. The German manufacture has long used color to give its minimalist, Bauhaus-inspired designs fresh character. Its latest creation continues that tradition. The Tangente Neomatik 38 Update arrives with a rich forest-green dial that evokes the tranquility of a walk beneath a dense canopy of trees. If “forest bathing” is meant to clear the mind, this new Tangente offers a similar sense of quiet refinement every time you glance at your wrist. Deep, elegant, and understated, the color complements the clean architecture of the brand’s signature design without distracting from it.

The Ring Date Remains the Star

The new dial provides an ideal backdrop for one of Nomos’s most distinctive complications: the patented ring-date display. Rather than using a conventional date window, two red markers frame the current date as they travel around the outer edge of the dial. This approach keeps the entire month visible at a glance while highlighting the current day with a bold carpe-diem statement. In typical Nomos fashion, the dial remains uncluttered, preserving the Tangente’s unmistakable Bauhaus and German Werkbund identity.

Ultra-Thin Engineering from Glashütte

Inside the 38.5mm stainless-steel case beats the in-house DUW 6101 automatic caliber, a movement that reflects Nomos’s high level of vertical manufacturing. The brand produces nearly every component in-house, underscoring its independence as one of Germany’s leading manufactures. The movement incorporates a patented date mechanism that allows the date to be adjusted quickly in either direction. By positioning the date ring around the outer perimeter of the caliber, Nomos preserves the movement’s remarkably slim profile.

At just 3.6mm thick, the DUW 6101 allows the complete watch to measure only 7.4mm thick, maintaining the elegant proportions that have become a hallmark of the Neomatik collection.

Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the automatic movement showcases traditional Glashütte finishing, including ribbing on the three-quarter plate, perlage, heat-blued screws, and gold-filled engravings. A skeletonized rotor winds the movement efficiently with minimal wrist motion.

The version with a sapphire crystal caseback is priced at $4,790. Nomos also offers the watch with a closed caseback for $4,400. Both models come fitted with black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan leather straps.
