Few watch categories are as closely associated with Tutima Glashütte as the pilot’s watch. With the new Flieger T5, the brand draws on this heritage while bringing another of its longstanding strengths to the fore: the use of titanium. Its 38.5mm Grade 5 titanium case combines low weight with high resistance, while the dial follows the clear, functional aesthetic that has defined classic pilot’s watches for decades.

A Clean Design

The Flieger T5 stays true to the functional DNA of the classic pilot’s watch. Protected by a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the dial is available in either black or blue and provides a strong backdrop for the white, lance-shaped hour and minute hands. A finely graduated minute track in five-minute increments and baton-style hour markers reinforce the instrument-like appearance. At 12 o’clock, the familiar triangular zero marker leaves no doubt about the watch’s aviation inspiration. Superluminova on the hands and hour markers ensures legibility in low-light conditions. The date display at 6 o’clock is color-matched to the respective dial, allowing it to blend naturally into the overall design rather than interrupting its symmetry.

Grade 5 Titanium with Aviation Credentials

Tutima uses Grade 5 titanium for the 38.5mm case. The alloy consists of 90 percent titanium, along with six percent aluminum and four percent vanadium. Compared with pure titanium, Grade 5 offers greater strength and dimensional stability while retaining the material’s low density, corrosion resistance and antimagnetic properties. Titanium is far from new being a new territory for Tutima. The Glashütte tradition brand already relied on the material for its legendary Bundeswehr and NATO Chronographs from the 1980s, building up decades of experience in its processing. The Flieger T5 continues this tradition in a more compact format. Measuring just 12.5mm in height, the case is water-resistant to 100 meters and created with an ergonomic profile. Alternating polished and satin-finished surfaces add subtle contrast to the otherwise highly functional design.

A Glashütte Movement Inside

The sapphire crystal case back provides a view of the Tutima 330 automatic movement, which is precisely regulated by hand in Glashütte. Based on an ETA movement, the caliber provides a 41-hour power reserve. The highlight on the back is the rhodium-plated rotor, which proudly carries Tutima’s logo in 18-karat gold.

Tutima offers the Flieger T5 with a three-row titanium bracelet for €2,350 and a Horween leather strap for €1,950. Converted to USD, the prices are approximately $2,700 and $2,300.
