Mission-driven and built for the stratosphere, Fortis expands its space-tested Stratoliner collection with the new S-41 Gravity Black. A modern evolution of the brand’s pioneering tool-watch philosophy, the timepiece combines aerospace-grade durability with a stealth aesthetic, delivering an eye-catching, professional chronograph built for performance.

Purpose-Driven Case Construction

At the core of the Gravity Black is the Stratoliner S-41 architecture, featuring a 41mm case crafted from recycled stainless steel with a black DLC coating hardened to extreme durability. Measuring 51mm lug-to-lug and 15mm thick, the profile strikes a confident yet wearable balance. A smoked sapphire caseback and anti-reflective sapphire crystal protect the dial and movement, while the screw-down crown with a triple-gasket system and FKM performance gaskets allows for 200 meters of water resistance. Completing the look is the brand’s signature Orbit Bezel, also executed in recycled steel for added integrity and visual consistency.

A Dial Built for Exploration

The Gravity Black’s stardust-textured dial evokes the vastness of space, accented by black metallic hands and white chronograph counters for enhanced legibility. Blue-glowing Super-Luminova X1 markings— dubbed “space-travel markings” by Fortis— ensure clarity in any lighting conditions, while the space-blue chronograph seconds hand provides a subtle but striking contrast. The result is a dial that’s both functional and atmospheric, celebrating Fortis’s long-standing connection to stratospheric exploration.

The Space-Tested Werk 17

Powering the Stratoliner S-41 Gravity Black is the Fortis Werk 17, the brand’s first manufacture automatic column-wheel chronograph movement. Tested under real-world spaceflight conditions in collaboration with the Swedish Space Corporation, the calibre delivers chronometer-grade precision, a 60-hour power reserve, and day-date functionality. Its robust design and proven performance reaffirm Fortis’s mission to engineer watches capable of thriving in environments far beyond the ordinary, ensuring the watch’s mechanical utility matches its intriguing aesthetics.
