Left-Handed: Doxa Unveils SUB 300T Aristera At Geneva Watch Days

At this year's Geneva Watch Days, Doxa presented the SUB 300T Professional Aristera. The watch is the Swiss brand's first automatic diver's watch specifically designed for left-handers, with the crown positioned on the left side of the case. Based on Doxa's well-known SUB 300T that surfaced as a professional diver's watch in 1968, the crown was moved to 9 o’clock, while the date window remains at 3 o'clock. To achieve this, the 4Hz movement had to be rotated 180 degrees inside the case.

Otherwise, the Astera, derived from the Greek word for left, is a textbook SUB 300T. Its 316 stainless steel case, measuring 42.5 x 44.5 mm wide and 14 mm thick, is water-resistant to 1,200 meters (4,000 feet) and equipped with a helium release valve. Not to be missed is the famous unidirectional bezel with scales for calculating and monitoring no-decompression dives. Of course, the luminescent dial is the same bright orange as the first SUB 300T.

Limited to 300 pieces, the watch comes with both the brand's "rice pearls"-stainless-teel bracelet to match the case and a lighter, more casual NATO-style strap. Both feature a folding clasp with ratchet extension and pin buckle.

The case back displays an engraving of a sailing vessel with full sails–in reverse relief as a nod to left-handers– and the inscription 'Limited Edition XXX/300'. The SUB 300T Professional Astera will be available from October 2024 at a price of $2,490 USD.
