Oris Welcomes the Year of the Horse with a Fiery Limited Edition
The zodiac signs of the Chinese Year have long inspired watch brands to release special editions that blend horological craftsmanship with cultural symbolism. For 2026, which ushers in the Year of the Fire Horse beginning on 17 February, Oris joins this tradition with a particularly expressive Artelier timepiece that combines high-end mechanical watchmaking with symbolic design elements.
At the heart of the Year of the Horse Limited Edition is the hand-wound Oris Calibre 113, one of the brand’s most technically ambitious movements. In addition to hours and minutes, it features a comprehensive business calendar displaying the day, date, month, and, notably, the week. The indication of the weeks via a scale running around the edge of the dark red dial with a degrade effect in the two sub dials is a rare feat in mechanical watchmaking and underscores the complexity of this movement. Beating at 3 Hz, the 113 also offers a non-linear power reserve indicator at 3 o'clock, designed to show remaining energy with greater precision as it approaches depletion. Adding a poetic touch, Oris incorporates galloping and resting horse motifs along the power reserve display, symbolizing moments when the mainspring is fully charged or ready to be rewound.

Water-resistant to 50 meters, it is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal on both sides with anti-reflective coating on the inside. The screwed stainless steel case back features a sapphire pane that reveals the beautifully finished movement, with the giant single-barrel that allows for the 240 hours of power reserve taking center stage.
