Christopher Ward and seconde/seconde/ Launch the C60 Pool Diver

The British watchmaker reunites with irreverent French designer Romaric André, aka seconde/seconde/, for a playful summer-themed diver that swaps serious underwater timing for the art of switching off.

Christopher Ward and seconde/seconde/ have teamed up for their fourth collaboration, unveiling the new C60 Pool Diver, a tongue-in-cheek take on the brand's C60 Trident Reef diver. Designed as the ultimate antidote to the daily grind, the watch transforms the traditional dive watch into what its creators call a “decompress diver,” a timepiece dedicated not to deep-sea exploration, but to the equally challenging pursuit of holiday relaxation.

The new model follows the success of the C65 Desk Diver, a 500-piece limited edition that humorously celebrated office life and sold out within days. This time, Paris-based watch provocateur Romaric André turns his attention from the workplace to the all-inclusive resort, creating a watch that guides wearers through the essential stages of poolside decompression.

At first glance, the C60 Pool Diver resembles a conventional professional dive watch. The 41mm steel case offers 200 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown, sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel, and even a helium escape valve. Yet a closer look reveals a decidedly less serious mission.

The matte white dial is divided into five zones representing key holiday activities, from reading and sunbathing to relaxing by the pool, posting vacation photos on social media, and finally contemplating life choices at sunset. Replacing the traditional date display is a martini glass symbol indicating the day's “maximum units,” while the bezel features a series of playful icons corresponding to each stage of the holiday experience.

Despite the humor, the execution is impressively sophisticated. Laser-etched details appear throughout the watch, including the bezel markings and a tropical island motif engraved into the helium escape valve. Even the familiar caseback illustration from the Desk Diver returns in updated form, replacing diving equipment with flip-flops, sunscreen, and a mocktail. Underneath the playful exterior beats the reliable Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with a frequency of 4 Hz and a power reserve of 38 hours.

Available on white, orange, or blue Aquaflex rubber straps or a three-link Bader bracelet, the C60 Pool Diver will not be limited by production numbers. Instead, orders will be accepted only during a special ordering window from June 11 through June 24, with deliveries beginning in mid-July. The watch is priced at $1,250 on a rubber strap and at $1,475 on the bracelet.
