Street Art Meets Watchmaking in the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Wotto LE
Maurice Lacroix, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, presents a captivating limited edition of the Aikon, created in collaboration with the artist Wotto. The Aikon Automatic Wotto Limited Edition is a tribute to the bold creativity of Wotto, a British street artist whose real name is Craig Watkins. This special edition, limited to 1,000 pieces, embodies his famous "doodle style," blending cute and quirky characters with chaos, emotions, and color.
While most watches resulting from collaborations with contemporary artists feature only the dial as the canvas, Wotto’s design expands across the entire 42mm stainless steel case, bezel, and metal bracelet. Mushrooms, tiny hearts, ghosts riding skateboards—these playful elements are engraved throughout the watch, bringing Wotto's creative world to life.
However, the dial is the true star of the show. For the first time in the Urban Tribe series, Wotto was given complete freedom to craft his own graphic universe. Set against a simple grey background, the artist brought a series of fun, mischievous figures to life in a gradient from yellow to blue. This colorful design in the center of the dial is undeniably eye-catching.
To ensure the artwork remains the focal point, the hour markers are kept subtle, with simple metal indices. Despite all the artistic flair, the Aikon Automatic Wotto Limited Edition retains the characteristic sporty features of the Aikon collection, including a water-resistant case that can withstand up to 200 meters. Inside, the ML115 automatic movement, based on the Sellita SW 200-1, powers the watch, offering a 38-hour power reserve. The sapphire crystal caseback provides a clear view of the inner mechanics—a totally different yet nonetheless impressive piece of art.
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Wotto Limited Edition is priced at €3,400 or approximately $3,700 when converted to USD.
