Maurice Lacroix: Six AIKON-IC Watches in Frozen Carbon

Maurice Lacroix is taking its AIKON-IC collection into new material territory with Frozen Carbon. Introduced at Geneva Watch Days 2026, the new composite combines carbon fiber with metal powders or colored pigments to create dials with deliberately irregular patterns. Because the fibers and particles are distributed randomly within the material, no two dials are exactly alike. The collection comprises six references, including three limited editions. Depending on the model, the Frozen Carbon dial is paired with a bronze, Damascus steel, black DLC-coated titanium or stainless-steel case. The watches share the AIKON’s characteristic six-pronged bezel architecture and are powered by Maurice Lacroix’s ML1000 automatic caliber.

Frozen Carbon: Randomness as a Design Element

Frozen Carbon transforms the structure of the composite itself into its decorative element. In the bronze and Damascus steel versions, metal particles are woven into carbon fibers, creating irregular patterns reminiscent of marble veining. The bronze model utilizes bronze powder, while titanium particles are employed for the Damascus version.

The colored variants adopt a distinct approach. Shorter carbon fibers are suspended in pigmented epoxy resin, resulting in a frosted, almost mineral-like appearance. The AIKON-IC Frozen Colours  is available with blue, purple, and red accents, while the AIKON-IC Frozen Carbon Deep Forest showcases a deep green bezel and elements on the dial.

Bronze, Damascus Steel and Titanium

The AIKON-IC Frozen Carbon Bronze combines a 43mm bronze case with a black ceramic bezel and titanium caseback. Its bronze case will develop a natural patina over time, meaning that not only the dial but also the exterior of each watch will evolve individually. The edition is limited to 500 pieces. Like all models in the collection, it measures 11mm in height and offers 100 meters of water resistance.

The AIKON-IC Frozen Carbon Damas takes an even more unusual material route. Its 43mm case is made from DS95X Austenitic Damascus steel produced in Sweden. The concentric-layer pattern results from the structure of the steel itself rather than from engraving or an applied decoration. As the case is machined through the different layers, each piece develops its own variation of the pattern. The model is limited to 500 pieces.

The AIKON-IC Frozen Carbon Deep Forest edition comes in a 43mm case made from sandblasted titanium coated in black DLC. A green ceramic bezel reinforces the color scheme, while the dial uses green-pigmented epoxy resin and short carbon fibers to create its distinctive depth and frosted appearance. This model is also limited to 500 pieces.

AIKON-IC Frozen Colors 

Three additional AIKON-IC models use Frozen Carbon in turquoise, purple and red. Their stainless-steel cases also measure 43mm and are combined with black ceramic bezels. Each dial consists of short carbon fibers suspended in correspondingly pigmented epoxy resin. The random orientation and varying depth of the fibers influence how light passes through and reflects from the material, giving every dial its own pattern and nuances. Matching stitching on the dual-material rubber straps picks up the color of each dial. Like the other models, these watches measure 11mm in height and offer 100 meters of water resistance.

All six watches are powered by the automatic ML1000 caliber, a collaboration between Maurice Lacroix and Soprod. Soprod’s facilities are just under ten kilometers from the brand’s headquarters in Saignelégier. This movement is finely tuned to an accuracy of ±4 seconds per day and boasts a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. Operating at 4 Hz, it offers a date at 3 o’clock in addition to time indications. The sapphire crystal caseback allows for a view of the movement, showcasing its Côtes de Genève, snailing, sunray finishing, and blued screws. The skeletonized oscillating weight also receives these decorative treatments. All six watches feature Maurice Lacroix’s new Easy Change system for the strap.

Six References, Three Limited Editions

The Frozen Carbon Bronze, Frozen Carbon Damas and Frozen Carbon Deep Forest are each limited to 500 pieces. The turquoise, purple and red versions are part of the regular collection. Prices range from $4,300 for the colored Frozen Carbon models to $5,400 for the Damascus steel version. The Frozen Carbon Bronze is priced at $4,350, while the Deep Forest retails for $4,550.
