Sponsored: Bold and Unbreakable– This is the Fortis Flieger Werk 7
Since 1912, Fortis has endeavored to produce cutting-edge tool watches that are made for the mission at hand. With the new Flieger F-41 and F-39 Werk 7, the watchmaker once again showcases its professional-grade work, introducing a collection of highly limited timepieces that connect over four decades of Flieger aviation heritage with the modern era.
Available in namesake 41mm and 39mm editions, the watches are produced in Mission Black and Tactical Green variants, each rebuilt from the ground up for modern-day pilots and daily adventurers alike.
Both the Mission Black and Tactical Green Flieger models feature a case crafted from recycled stainless steel, enhanced with state-of-the-art Swiss Diamond-Like-Carbon (DLC) coating. This treatment delivers an ultra-hard surface rated at 4500 Vickers, making it 20 times harder than standard steel and exceptionally resistant to scratches and wear.
Available in two sizes— 41mm and 39mm— the watches are water-resistant to 200 meters and fitted with a screw-down crown and triple-gasket system ensuring resilience at depth. A smoked sapphire caseback, performance FKM gaskets, and a bidirectional 12-hour bezel with second time zone capability complete the mission-grade build.
Built with maximum legibility in mind, each Flieger features a matte dial— black for the Mission Black, and deep green for the Tactical Green— accented by applied Brixtrack®X1 numerals and the signature Synchroline® band in Berlac Fluor orange. These luminous Brix, set on a circular brushed track, glow vivid green via SuperLumiNova® X1, ensuring lightning-fast readability even in low light or at high speed. Matte black hour and minute hands and a sweep seconds hand in bright orange tie together the look with contrast and clarity.
Powering each Flieger is the Fortis Werk 7— a manufacture automatic calibre purpose-built for robustness and longevity. Featuring a 70-hour power reserve and date complication, this movement utilizes a Variable Inertia Regulation in its balance wheel, regulating its rate through small weights rather than through altering the hairspring length. A double fixation system and oversized bridge bolster shock resistance and mechanical stability, providing the necessary, solid foundation for the purpose-built calibre.
Each version of the Flieger, including the Mission Black and Tactical Green in both 41mm and 39mm sizes, is limited to just 100 pieces worldwide. The watch is available for purchase through Fortis’ website and via authorized boutiques, with pricing for each of the models marked at $4,250 USD.
