Blancpain X Swatch Fifty Fathoms Green Abyss: A Deep-Dive Tribute to Hidden Ocean Wonders

The latest addition to the Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection from Blancpain x Swatch is again a striking homage to the deep sea. Drawing inspiration from the vivid hues and intricate structures of hidden marine ecosystems, the Green Abyss model translates this underwater mystery into bold, evocative design inspired by the famous Fifty Fathoms diver's watch. The rich green case is offset by contrasting accents in black and sandy beige, evoking the allure of untouched ocean landscapes.

This distinct aesthetic is made possible by Bioceramic, a blend of two thirds ceramic used in high-end watchmaking and one third bio/sourced material derived from castor oil. The combination results in a durable, scratch-resistant product with a silky matte finish. The case has a diameter of 42.3mm and is water-resistant to 50 fathoms or 91 meters.

The dark green dial is graced by a true collector’s detail: a two-tone moisture indicator at 6 o’clock. This small but historically significant feature was originally developed in 1954 for U.S. Navy divers, alerting them to water ingress without opening the case. The hour indexes, hour, and minute hands, the tip of the seconds hand as well as the scale on the bezel, are enriched with Grade A vintage Super-LumiNova for legibility in the dark.

Inside the watch ticks Swatch’s fully automated Sistem51 movement, constructed from just 51 parts and held together by a single central screw. The self-winding caliber boasts a Nivachron hairspring, known for its antimagnetic properties, and an impressive 90-hour power reserve. The transparent case back reveals a colorful digital print of Felimare picta, a radiant sea slug, also known as the "Regal Sea Goddess."

The two-piece NATO-style strap is made from recycled fishing nets and provides full visibility of the movement. The pin buckle and loops are made of Bioceramic material.
