At Baseworld 2016, Chanel, widely known for its iconic ladies' watches and métiers d'art timepieces, introduced its first model designed specifically for men, aptly named Monsieur de Chanel. Equipped with a genuine hand-wound movement with a 3-day power reserve, the newcomer featured a retrograde minute display, in which the minute hand travels an unusually long 240-degree arc, and a jumping hour complication. Thanks to its unmistakably clean and different design and the state-of-the-art Caliber 1, le Monsieur caused quite a stir.

At this year's Watches and Wonders, Chanel unveils the Monsieur de Chanel Superleggera Edition Intense Black, inspired by racing cars. Limited to 100 pieces, the 42mm case is made of black ceramic and coated stainless steel.

The black dial is accentuated by a bold guilloché pattern, which provides a beautiful backdrop for the retrograde minutes, subsidiary seconds and jumping hours. The two barrels of the Caliber 1, which store approximately 72 hours of power, are partially visible on the left and right flange. In line with the monochromatic design code, the watch is mounted on a nylon strap with black calfskin trim and lining and a black-coated steel triple-folding clasp.
