Sponsored: Celebrating 35 Years of the Citizen Promaster with Three New Limited Edition Models
The Citizen Promaster series has long been celebrated as a benchmark for professional-grade sports watches, consistently designed and manufactured to withstand the most extreme conditions across land, sea, and air. In honor of its 35th anniversary, Citizen introduces three limited edition Promaster models that embody the line's dedication to safety, durability, and functional design.
These new timepieces— the Promaster Fujitsubo, the Promaster Land U822, and the Promaster Skyhawk A-T— are each inspired by the environments they are designed for: SEA, LAND, and AIR. Together they offer not only handsome tributes to Promaster’s enduring legacy, but serve as excellent sports watches built for the difficult tasks ahead.
Each of the new models are being launched with a celebratory ad campaign featuring #TEAMPROMASTER, a collective of individuals who represent the spirit of adventure, challenging their limits, respect of the environment, and going beyond the imaginable.
A Deep-Sea Legend: The Promaster Fujitsubo
The Promaster Fujitsubo is a striking 200m Mechanical Diver's watch inspired by Citizen’s legendary 1977 Challenge Diver, famously dubbed the "Fujitsubo Diver." This historical watch gained notoriety after being discovered washed ashore, intact and still functional, years after it was lost to the ocean.
The modern successor pays homage to the coastal setting of Long Reef Beach, Australia, where the original vintage diver was found, showcasing a dial and unidirectional bezel adorned with blue accents reminiscent of the ocean’s depths and contrasting white sands. Duratect platinum treatment on the Super Titanium™ case and bracelet provides a luminous silver hue, enhancing the model’s visual appeal and scratch resistance.
Engineered to perform under pressure, the Promaster Fujitsubo comes equipped with anti-magnetic protection to safeguard against modern-day interference, maintaining reliable timekeeping to +20 /-10 per day. The automatic movement that makes this possible, the Citizen Cal.9051, also comes equipped with a 42-hour power reserve, ensuring dependability both on and off the wrist.
The Citizen Promaster Fujitsubo made its debut with new #TEAMPROMASTER members William Drumm and Jody MacDonald, two incredible nature photographers, adventurers, and environmentalists, respectively.
A Terrain-Conquering Tool: The Promaster Land U822
For adventurers traversing rugged landscapes, the Promaster Land U822 combines Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology with essential survival features. This watch’s MIP (Memory In Pixel) liquid crystal display enhances legibility while providing detailed time and date information— ensuring clarity even on the most challenging missions. An innovative brushed finish on the dial minimizes glare, while the rotating inner ring serves as a practical compass, empowering explorers to navigate with precision.
In addition to World Time functionality and a Light-Level Indicator, which tracks energy generation, the Land U822’s Eco-Drive movement boasts a three-year power reserve on a full charge. Finished in a rugged gray plating on its stainless steel case and equipped with matching triple-link bracelet, as well as an interchangeable Cordura® band, the Promaster Land U822 is an indispensable tool for those who seek adventure in the extreme outdoors.
The new Promaster Land U822 is being launched with the #TEAMPROMASTER member, Canadian Climber, and Paraglider Pilot Will Gadd. Among his many incredible feats, Gadd is known as the first person to ice climb Niagara Falls.
Aviation Innovation: The Promaster Skyhawk A-T
Completing the trio is the Promaster Skyhawk A-T, a watch designed for pilots and aviation enthusiasts, alike. The sleek, integrated design takes inspiration from the phenomenon of the Midnight Sun, a nod to the polar regions where the sun remains visible at all hours. Encased in gray and rose gold-toned stainless steel, the Skyhawk A-T features Citizen’s Eco-Drive Atomic Timekeeping via the Cal.U680 movement, ensuring superior accuracy with a margin of ±15 seconds per month.
With World Time functionality, a 1/100-second chronograph, and a perpetual calendar, this watch is built to keep up with the demands of modern aviation. Powered by light, the Promaster Skyhawk A-T also offers a power reserve of three and a half years in power-save mode, making it a reliable companion in between missions.
The new Promaster Skyhawk A-T makes its debut alongside the #TEAMPROMASTER member Jeff Shapiro, a falconer, hang glider pilot, wing suit BASE jumper, philanthropist, and more.
